Hospice Staff Educator, Registered Nurse

RN Hospice Staff Educator Functions & Responsibilities

= Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the Hospice orientation programs, making appropriate recommendations and/or revisions.

= Serves as a clinical resource for all Hospice field staff and preceptors offering direction, consultation and orientation to new procedures and equipment as the need arise

= Performs on-site support and orientation to all Hospice field staff concerning general skill competency based on individual position descriptions.

= Assists the Quality & Compliance Manager in identifying and meeting the needs for ongoing educational programs, based on the learning needs assessment and other internal indicators.

= Participates in providing direct Hospice staff training in the office and in patient’s homes utilizing innovative techniques to disseminate information to staff and ensure staff competency.

= Serves as a resource to Network’s Hospice staff in planning educational programs

= Demonstrates the ability to make decisions independently recognizes complex situations and is able to identify key or underlying issues for problem resolution.

= Adheres to professional standards of practice and Hospice policies and procedures that reflect quality care and supports reimbursement.

= Attends educational programs and in-services to meet Hospice service needs and to develop professional growth.

= Demonstrates flexibility to meet agency needs.

= Participates in Hospice and other related committees as requested.

= Upholds the compliance objectives and policies and procedures of the Foundation and Subsidiaries.

= Performs other related duties of a similar nature and complexity as directed.

Registered Nurse Education:

= RN with Bachelor of Science in nursing or related field preferred.

= Licensed to practice as an RN in Massachusetts.



= Minimum of 2 years of Hospice nursing experience required.

= Knowledge of Joint Commission regulations and the Medicare Conditions of Participation for Hospice required.

= Minimum of 1 year experience in an educational role preferred.

= Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of education programs for health care professionals preferred.
