Managed Care/Insurance Verification Assistant

Status : Full-time

Office Location: Worcester, MA

Description:

Managed Care/Insurance Verification Assistant - responsible for all initial and ongoing authorizations of services as required by payers in order to ensure payment for services.

Salary: $19.00 per hour

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM

Hybrid Schedule: 2-3 days in Worcester office

Responsibilities for Managed Care Assistants:

  • Obtain authorization for home care services from select payers online, by telephone or fax per insurance company requirements
  • Maintains accurate filing systems and utilizes Microsoft applications to organize and store documents
  • Acts as liaison between the clinicians and the Utilization Review/Medical Management departments at insurance companies
  • Uses reports to identify new referrals, pending authorizations, expiring authorizations and overutilization
  • Work with team to problem solve and create efficient processes

Experience Required for Managed Care Assistants:

  • Previous experience with managed care, billing and/or home care
  • Proficient with MS Office Software; create, open, save and print documents; ability to insert and format text and images.
  • Proficient with Outlook; attach, open and save documents in email, utilize calendar
  • Proficient with eFax.
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Education:

  • High School Graduate or GED required
  • Associate Degree Preferred
